LOU WILSON
Executive Chef

Chef Lou has been Executive Chef of the Neighborhood Center since November 2013. He began his involvement with the Neighborhood Center in high school, when he would come and volunteer with his church’s youth program. It was in high school also that Lou developed an interest in the culinary arts. Chef Lou began his culinary career by working in the prepared foods department in Wegmans. After high school, he studied culinary arts at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. During his studies, Lou completed an externship at Stone Harbor Golf Club in Cape May Courthouse, NJ and continued working there upon his graduation from the CIA. Chef Lou also spent a year and a half as the Executive Chef of the Pinelands Center at Mt. Misery.

After his time at Mt. Misery, Chef Lou returned to Stone Harbor Golf Club as the sous chef. During his time there, Chef Lou began corresponding with the Neighborhood Center. He volunteered as a consultant of the food program for a few weeks before accepting the job as the Executive Chef of the Neighborhood Center. Chef Lou officially joined the Neighborhood Center team right before Thanksgiving in 2013. Since then, the food program at the Neighborhood Center has improved drastically. Chef Lou has incorporated the use of fresh fruits and vegetables on a daily basis and his passion for hospitality has brought the service of the meal up to a restaurant quality performance.

He ensures that every individual served by the Neighborhood Center is fed well and nutritiously. The Center, under Chef Lou’s direction is now a “farm to table” for our community!
