Dorothy J Scott
Assistant Director

Dorothy J Scott was raised in Camden, NJ and is a proud alumni of Creative Arts High School. At an early age Dorothy knew that she
wanted to spend her life in the service of others and work to make a difference in her community. She went away to college and
majored in English with the goal of becoming a teacher. Once there, she realized that there was more work to be done for the
children who, due to life’s circumstances, may fall through the cracks. Her perspective was even further changed when she
encountered the gospel of Jesus Christ. Dorothy’s resolve to love and serve the people of Camden was further solidified and she
prayed for an opportunity to follow her passion.

When Dorothy graduated from Montclair State University, she stumbled upon The Neighborhood Center and was deeply impacted by the work and the mission that has spanned over a century. Dorothy has spent time in nearly every program the Center has offered but her heart is for children and families. She is dedicated to fostering a safe and encouraging environment for the children we serve. Dorothy works to consistently create opportunities for children to be exposed to new ideas and experiences that will set them on a trajectory of success and deep fulfillment.
